Champagne tasting for beginners – English edition 27th March at 8 PM

New to Champagne? Perfect.

This tasting is for anyone who is curious about Champagne but not quite sure where to start.

We will taste 6 different Champagnes and take you through the basics without turning the evening into a classroom.

You do not need to know anything about Champagne beforehand. It really does not matter whether you think Champagne comes with a screw cap, or whether you have already tasted a Greek Champagne.

We use the 6 Champagnes to explore some of the things that are useful to know: Which grapes are used? Why do Champagnes taste so different? What difference do the producer and the area make? And how do you figure out which style you actually prefer?

How does the tasting work?

The tasting follows the same format as our regular Saturday tastings. We taste the Champagnes together, and along the way we introduce the wines, the producers and the stories behind them.

There will of course be plenty of time for questions – including the ones you think everyone else already knows the answer to.

The goal is to make you a little wiser about Champagne without making the evening too serious.

Do I need to know anything about Champagne?

No.

That is pretty much the point.

The tasting is made for beginners and those with a little experience, so we start from a level where everyone can join in.

By the end of the evening, you probably will not know everything about Champagne. Hopefully, you will know a bit more about what you like – and have developed an expensive new interest.

Programme

The tasting starts at 8 PM and finishes at approximately 10–10:30 PM.

After the tasting, we open the bar and stay open until midnight. You can continue the evening with our by-the-glass list of 20 different Champagnes or explore our bottle list, which Star Wine List has named Denmark’s best selection of sparkling wine.

The Champagnes from the tasting will also be available to purchase to take home at a special price.

We have snacks available, but we strongly recommend eating a proper meal beforehand – and leaving the car at home.
